About Alexander Gimpelevich, DO
Dr. Gimpelevich was born and raised in Kharkov, Ukraine. Not one to shy away from an academic challenge, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Columbia University in 1997. After working for 2 years doing research for Mt. Sinai/ Columbia University Hospital, Dr. Gimpelevich went on to earn his doctorate in Osteopathy from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After 1 year of residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, Dr. Gimpelevich completed his residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation from Long Island Jewish Hospital on Long Island.
Always having been active in competitive athletics (he still plays soccer every week), & experiencing first-hand the multitude of injuries and problems that athletes endure, Dr. Gimpelevich was naturally drawn to his field of physiatry. He derives great satisfaction from helping his patients not only get out of pain but surpass their own expectations and get more out of life.
On a personal level, he thrives on the challenge of “figuring out” what’s causing patients’ problems, & appreciates working with a team of the pain management doctors in Queens who work synergistically to help patients.
